Call our office for a free copy of your accident report (704) 364-3361. Reports are only provided to individuals directly involved in an accident. We do not provide reports to third parties such as attorneys, or insurance carriers. If you are involved in a car accident, one of the first things you will want to see is the police accident report. Not only will the report have contact information for the adverse driver’s insurance carrier, but it will have contact information for the witnesses, estimated damage to the vehicles, and a diagram and statements by each operator.
The Police Officer’s Codes Determining Fault
What you will not see when first looking at the report are the discrete codes that the investigating officer puts on the report where they determine the fault of each driver. This is the first thing that the insurance carrier looks at when making a liability determination. We can help you locate this information on the report when you call our office.

The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department has an online tool which retrieves your report. The criteria you would need to find this report include(you only need one but more information can help your search):
- The report number
- Date of the accident
- Last name of the driver
- Location of accident
This report fee is $3.50, payable by credit card. The website to find your report is https://policereports.lexisnexis.com/search?AGENCY=NC0600100.
In Person
You may also obtain your report by visiting either the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Headquarters at 601 E Trade Street, the West Service Area at 4150 Wilkinson Boulevard, or at the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Division Office. If you choose to obtain your report this way, there is no fee.
