SCDOT Worker Killed in Greenwood County, SC Head-On Collision, Two Others Hurt

A tragic accident in Greenwood County, SC left one man dead and two other people injured on Thursday, June 10.

Authorities say the crash happened around 6:17 AM, along U.S. Highway 178 near Scotts Ferry Road. Charles “Chuck” Kennedy, 59, of McCormick was driving a SCDOT van with two passengers on US 178. They were reportedly headed to a worksite. An oncoming vehicle crossed the center line and struck the van head-on, injuring everyone involved.

Sadly, Kennedy was later pronounced dead from his injuries.

The two passengers and the driver of the other vehicle were all taken to a local hospital for treatment.
