How to Obtain Your Beaufort Police Accident Report
If you have been involved in a Beaufort traffic accident, one of the crucial documents to your personal injury case will be a copy of your Police Accident Report. It has notes from the Investigating Officer, usually indicating the parties who have contributed to the accident. There will also be an outline of a vehicle to allow them to mark damages, as well as a diagram of intersecting streets, so the officer can indicate the point of collision.
You may contact the Beaufort Police Department Records Division during business hours for questions or information. Police Accident Reports may be obtained by fax, by mail, or in person at the Boundary Street location. No fee is charged for accident victims or their attorneys. Non-involved persons must obtain a Freedom of Information Act confirmation, and may only obtain a redacted copy.
Please feel free to inquire with the Records Division about a FOIA request; general informative content is available at the U. S. Homeland Security Site.
